Week 2 Part 1

I believe when it comes to personal and business every social media platform has useful tools for different needs. Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook all have features that allow consumers to reach the businesses

Regarding personal use, I think all social media platforms are made to be used for personal use and all platforms focuses on a different aspect of life for people to share. I want to consider what platform is geared better towards person use in terms of businesses and consumers. I believe twitter is the most satisfactory way for consumers to be heard and considered by businesses. Twitter allows consumers to start a dialogue directly with businesses and is the best platform to expect a response. Personally, I believe Instagram is a good platform for individuals to post to business in hopes of a 'like' or a 'shoutout'; however, in terms of being a platform for problem solving, Instagram doesn't fulfill that requirement.

It is easier to consider what social media platform is more suitable for business use. I believe between Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, all three of those platforms can be used as a tool to fulfill a different necessity. Instagram is a great tool for advertisements. Advertisements on Instagram work best when they promote a lifestyle that the consumer can see themselves in. Good adverts on Instagram don't sell a product to you, they sell the lifestyle you can have from purchasing a product. Instagram advertisements are photos that match the rest of your feed, and that sells. Twitter is a great platform to reach consumers and answer questions and troubleshoot. The direct communication thread that is started from tagging a business on twitter makes it easy to communicate back and forth. Lastly, Facebook is a great platform for a business to post their information and allows consumers to advertise for the business. When a consumer likes business on Facebook, they are looking to share with others their approval of a business. From that approval, friends of friends may begin clicking on the page, making it a great platform to have information about your business.

I think ultimately all social media platforms are great tools for personal use and for business use. The important part of using these platforms is understanding where to go to share what. Picking the right platform to post or reply make the difference between making a sale or losing a customer. Rethinking social media as a tool, and taking a moment to think beyond 'what should I post' and begin to think 'what is it I want my post to communicate' is what can make social media a successful tool.

  1. Very insightful, the degrees at which we interact with businesses and in turn interact with potential customers can make or break the social media front.
